WEEK TWO AND DOING NICELY…

Again there were several of our members away with the horrible winter lurgies, but we had a pretty good turn out on this cold Monday evening – hall was reasonably warm thank goodness.

Loved our new little warm up song do-ca-do…. Have a listen to the recording, don’t you sound good! It’s a great little exercise to really work on blending and keeping in time with your fellow singers, and we shall play with this more over the next few weeks. We’ve put up the learning tracks for this as well as the musical score for anyone who fancies a look at the dots!

This led us into practicing Under the Moon of Love, happy to say that we have nailed this great, fun little arrangement of the Shawaddywaddy song – well done to our chaps for their excellent contributions! And there were only three of them this evening! So if you’ve missed the first two weeks of this term, do try and have a listen to your learning tracks and to this recording so you can catch up as I can see this being a very popular one for us all to just sing.

I’m putting the words up for KEEP YOUR HEART GOOD on the website later this week, and if possible will make a recording for you to sing along with, like I said on Monday evening, this is a song where I would love you to be adventurous – do a bit of improvising, go off-road, have some fun…. It’s a great song to sing whenever the stress witch appears ☺

We then went on to have a little look at LET THE RIVER RUN, with only two purples at the session we didn’t do their harmony, but the other three groups had a go at the first verse (we didn’t do the intro this week). Please, if you can, have a few listen throughs of your learning tracks so that we can spend lots of time on this great, powerful song next week. This song is all about the blend, as all parts separate and then come back into unison many times throughout the song, so listening around the room is really important as this piece is sung unaccompanied.

UP ON THE ROOF/UNDER THE BOARDWALK – we didn’t move on with this because of all our absentees, but what we did was do some polishing of the earlier bits, so have a listen, next week we will mainly focus on this and Let the River Run, so these are definitely the ones to put some homework in if you fancy it. Greens if you find it too high at the beginning, you can sing an octave lower, if this is you, have a chat with me next week….

We finished the session off with a re-visit to our new fun acapella Do-ca-do…..

Another buzzing, fun session, spirits lifted, souls energized….thank you B ☺
