GOING CRAZY FOR SINGING
I am slowly going crazy, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, switch
Crazy going slowly am I 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 switch!
That was our silly little warm up to kick off the session this evening – after a demonstration on how not to throw a ball across the room – the less said about that the better ;-)
We then learnt a very pretty, short but quite complex, 4 part arrangement of
Ave Maria, which I think we will repeat next week as it was rather nice. We can work on singing it a little more angelically now that we know the notes, some of the timings are quite tricky, so it’s a nice little exercise in musicality.
CHRISTMAS ARRIVED – as we reminded ourselves of the lovely folksy
I BELIEVE IN FATHER CHRISTMAS singing just the introduction. Please bring your words to this one along with the Christmas version of Hallelujah next week.
We then celebrated our very own Martin Gannon’s birthday – next week you will find out what adventures the family had in store for him, he’s in for a busy few days ahead…
After choccie from Sue, we continued with our epic arrangement of THE CHAIN. All I want to say is well done! Don’t over think it, listen to the learning tracks to help you with your timing especially for your “wo-ah’s” – (damn your love, damn your lies 2,3, 4, 1 wo-ah!) it doesn’t help that my conducting arm is weak at the moment, – this is an intermediate piece and we are seriously stretching ourselves, but we are doing so well – keep up the hard work.
We ended with our lovely From Somewhere Deep Inside, check out this link to see the master at work…. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGPpVaNDJMc
So the nights are getting longer and much, much colder. I will suss out the other room, but it’s not necessarily a better option comfort wise. So in the meantime, if you do feel the cold, please dress up in layers, bring a flask of something warm to sup on, and maybe a hot water bottle to keep you warm. I could move to a venue in Selsey for the winter, but it would have to be a majority decision. Let me know your thoughts,
