I DON’T SING BECAUSE I’M HAPPY, I’M HAPPY BECAUSE I SING” Ella Fitzgerald

 

And what a fab night of singing we had – we did so much and time flew!

After warming up with “Under the Moon of Love” (didn’t the chaps sound fab?!) we moved onto our new Ave Maria short song arranged in 4, quite complex parts. I think we have now well and truly learnt our harmonies, so next week, let’s work on softening it and making it sound a little more “angelic”.

We then kicked off our Christmas rep with the fun Gaudiamus – I love this song with it’s celtic-like rhythm, wouldn’t it be great with a funky drum beat accompanying it?

We then cracked on with I BELIEVE, have a listen, this sounds so good! Can’t wait to really get our teeth into this next week, so be sure to dig out or print your words and bring them to the session.

After our quick break we had a reminder sing through of COUNT ON ME, please try and dip in to our other songs every now and again, using the song bank to sing along to, as we want to keep them fresh in our memories. Shall we have a quick run through again next week, making sure that each group knows exactly which bit they should be singing? Considering it’s been a while since we last sung this, we did pretty well (apart from the ending – oops).

We finished the session working on the ending of THE CHAIN – oh my goodness, this sounds amazing!!!! It was complex to learn, complex to teach, but what a joy to sing ☺ we’re pretty much there now with our granny squares of sections, it’s nearly time to knit them all together – how exciting….  ☺

NEXT WEEK

I will be on my own as Martin is away, so we may not be able to do a session recording, if this is something you really rely on, perhaps you could use your phone to record the teaching parts of the session for you to use? This will be the format of the session, so you can be sure to have all the correct music – obviously with some little treats thrown in along the way….
