MONDAY MUSINGS
Several people were away on holiday this week, so we were quite low in numbers, but everyone who was there made up for it with great enthusiasm and effort.
‘This is Home’ sounded lovely, I’d like to sing it at least one more time. I love the words, and I love the harmonies, and I think if we repeat it one or two more times, you will be able to feel really confident with your parts and sing it with real feeling as we move around and get to hear and enjoy everyone’s contributions. Whilst we sometimes forgot some of our harmonies, I love the way you work it out as a group – this is all learning – have a listen. I may bring out some of our old friend s like “Bella Mama” and other rounds for us to really practice singing our own part whilst other sing theirs…. Hmmm she muses….

When singing Count on Me, several of you were finding some of the notes tricky to reach – finding them slightly out of your normal voice range. The song has been arranged into three groups, rather than parts, so think of it really like just singing along to your favourite song. Try not to think about it too much, it’s a great up-beat song that I just want you to enjoy singing together, feel free to swap and change groups over the next few weeks, let’s just have fun with it. We discussed that you can always drop an octave in the higher bits… like I say try not to think about it, just sing ☺
After a break we started learning Texas Hold ‘em – a highly popular Beyonce song from last year – although I was surprised to see that loads of you had never heard it before! So homework for this week is just listen to the song several times to get the idea of the song. I chose this as it’s just a bit of fun – world news is anything but at the moment, and I felt that it would be good to just go for some up-beat tunes for us to sing so get your cowboy hats and boots (imaginary or otherwise) out the cupboard and practice your yeeha’s y’all!
OH BARBARA ANN…. Wow listening back to this I worked you so hard – but I was determined we’d finish feeling accomplished, which I hope is what happened? Just got to practice getting that start note right…. Learning tracks are up for this to help you practice.
Time went so quickly tonight, but we’re moving along nicely. If you’re on holiday – hope you’re having a fab time, hopefully you will manage to have a little listen to the session recordings to keep up.
