I DON’T CARE IF THE RAIN COMES DOWN!
I’m gonna dance all day,
I don’t care if the rain comes down, I’m gonna dance all day,
Hey hey, carry me away, I’m gonna dance all day,
Hey hey, carry me away, I’m gonna dance all day

We never let the weather spoil our sessions – I loved kicking off this evening’s fun with this quick and easy round, I’m not sure how many groups we managed to split this into – thinking we might try and do it with even more next week – it sounded so good!
I hope you all enjoyed learning the lovely hymn-like song ONLY REMEMBERED? if you listen to the learning tracks there are harmonies all the way through the song, but because we wanted to have it ready to sing at next Monday’s session in honour of Remembrance Day, we are singing just the tune for the verses, and splitting into 4 harmonies for the chorus. If you google the song, there are many YouTube versions of this, here is one from the British Legion:

We will start the session with this next week, so if at all possible, please try and learn and practice the first verse and chorus this week using the learning tracks – like I say, don’t worry about the harmonies that develop over the song, we will sing the verses in unison. Lovely basses – I noticed you were singing the verse in your chest voices, you actually want to be in your head voices, singing in the same octave as the tenors, so I will try and lift you up next week! Otherwise you are going far too low. But overall we did really well learning this, so well done.
We then worked on THE CHAIN – our long term project – please do try rocking side to side, two beats either side, this should really help the flow. We went a bit quick this evening – my fault – I will slow it down. Keep listening and practicing with the learning tracks and we will just get better and better.
After a quick sweetie break we finished the session off with BARBARA ANN – and yes Martin, you were right! On listening back, the little exercise we did to kick this off you chaps were singing an octave too low, but we corrected it before we started singing the song and by jove – 2nd time round I think we actually got it! We now just need to smooth the edges, men practice that jump up at the beginning – it is high for some of you, but totally achievable I promise! I really want us to just be able to stand in a circle and thoroughly enjoy singing this one.
We finished off with the gorgeous jazzy FROM SOMEWHERE DEEP INSIDE by James Rose, we are going to extend and extend this, over the next few weeks, his singing exercises break down boundaries on singing harmony, they free up your voices and take you to places you never thought possible! Excited?.... we need to balance the groups out a bit though as there were far too many opting for the low voice group – we actually want one high voice in each of the three groups (you will find out why later…). But wow, it sounded delicious – that’s jazz! see you next week ☺
From somewhere deep inside, I let it fall away
Still looking out for me, it’s gonna change someday
