CHOIR CAN SOMETIMES FEEL LIKE IT’S ONE STEP FORWARD AND TWO STEPS BACK…

But don’t worry, it’s only normal when we’ve been sailing along nicely the last few weeks, really mastering what we have learned, and then I go and throw a really complicated key change at you on one of the songs, followed by introducing an extremely tricky, multi-layered ending, with everyone singing different songs, different notes, different rhythms, all at the same time!

So to coin a phrase“it’s me, not you!”… We will break it down more next week, and it will most definitely be easier having Gel with us. All I ask of you is to keep smiling ☺ and just trust the process, we will get there, and if it’s too tricky, we can simplify it. Just be sure to check the volume of the group, can you hear the other groups, and think about that inner-tuning, take time at the end of phrases to listen around the room and adjust where necessary.

Having said all that, we had a great evening revisiting Ezatale, Still Water and Jolene. So you’re homework this week is to think and suggest a couple of ‘belters’ that we can all sing at our summer party, and for us to decide if we want to invite friends and family… So let me know your thoughts. Meanwhile….. keep singing!  B x
